How to Ace Your Essays Part 1: Planning and Drafting
Presenters: Amanda Kmetz (Faculty coach, TRIO SSS Programs)
Audience: TRIO students, NEIU students
This workshop presents the first two stages of the writing process—planning and drafting. In this workshop, you will learn strategies on how to deal with writer’s block, generate ideas, and organize supporting points and details in essays. You will then learn tips for how to compose essays for class!

How to Ace Your Essays Part 2: Editing and Proofreading
Presenters: Tea Burian (Faculty Coach, TRIO SSS Programs)
Audience: TRIO students, NEIU students
This workshop builds on the previous workshop, and focuses on the next two stages of the writing process—editing and proofreading. In this workshop you will learn the importance of editing along with strategies and techniques for improving the first draft.

Professionalism 101: Networking and Conference
Presenters: William Escalante (Advisor, TRIO SSS Achieve Program)
Audience: TRIO students, NEIU students
This session will cover many aspects of attending a professional conference from how to prepare, navigating the “vendor” and/or career fair, and what to do afterwards.
