Getting University Credits For What You Already Know!
Presenter: Adina Lapadat (TRIO member, Teacher Prep Program)
Audience: TRIO students, NEIU students

We have so many skills outside of school and in some cases we don’t realize that. Did you know that you can get university credits for what you know? I didn’t until I took a class this semester. I am thrilled to share this important information with you because it can save you, your friends and your family lots of time and money. I hope that this workshop can do that for you so please join me.

Budgeting, Borrowing, and Making Good Economic Decisions
Presenter: Scott Hegerty (Professor, NEIU Dept. of Economics)
Audience: TRIO students, NEIU students

Deciding how to spend–and when not to spend–is important if you want to avoid major money problems and help build a better life. This presentation discusses how to spend and save wisely, and covers the basics of credit and borrowing.

Finding Purpose in Your Career
Presenters: Jesse Rutschman (Coordinator, TRIO SSS Achieve Program)
Audience: TRIO students, NEIU students

In this workshop, you will learn some fun and insightful ways you can explore and develop your talents, values, and ideal career paths. You will leave this workshop with your Meaningful Work Statement, more confidence showcasing your strengths (in job interviews, resumes, cover letters, and personal statements), and some next steps to take your career to a whole new level.

Science of a Resume
Presenter: Lynette Correa-Velez (Asst. Director, NEIU Career Development Center)
Audience: TRIO students, NEIU students

The “Science of a Resume” workshop is a highly interactive career coaching session with the Assistant Director of Career Development at NEIU, Lynette Correa-Velez, M.Ed. Participants will learn the technical information within the K.I.S.S. method on how to create an eye-catching, professional resume with the lens of an HR interviewer or hiring
agent. Bring your resume to be reviewed in-session!

4:15-5:05 P.M.

Becoming a Student Leader
Presenter: Albert Chanthaboury (Program Coordinator, Student Leadership Development)
Audience: TRIO students, NEIU students

This workshop will provides attendees to learn about student leadership opportunities at NEIU. Come and learn about Student Leadership Development’s Civic Engagement, Alternative Spring Break, and Leadership Pathway Programs.

5:40-6:30 P.M.

SAP Appeal: Understanding the Process to Get Your Money Back
Presenter: Amie Jatta (Director, TRIO SSS programs)
Audience: TRIO students, NEIU students
                                                                                                            Did you know that Did you know you can appeal to get your financial aid reinstated? Come and learn more about the Standards of Academic Progress, the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Policy here at NEIU, and what to do when submitting a written SAP appeal.
