NEIU’s Ronald Williams Library on the main campus hosted its annual book sale over a three-day span from Oct. 16 to Oct. 18, 2024. Most items at the event were for $1 with all proceeds from the book sale going to the Ronald Williams Library.
In the weeks leading up to the book sale, NEIU students, faculty and staff were encouraged to donate books and place them in a bin as they entered the library. These books proved to be the catalyst for a successful turnout over the course of the three days.
The books for sale consisted of a variety of genres from fiction, nonfiction, children’s books, and foreign language, just to name a few. Within each genre contained subgenres. For example, the fiction carts contained several plays, such as William Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” as well as the screenplay from the 2015 comedy film, “Spy”. The nonfiction section contained memoirs, self-help books, and even a practice SAT book.
Books were not the only items up for grabs at the event. Musical scores from artists such as Beethoven were also for sale. DVDs featuring movies and TV shows were also for sale at the event. Underneath the musical scores and DVD tables, cardboard boxes were available for consumers with a considerable haul.
Through the book sale, NEIU students, faculty and staff received the opportunity to add to their inventory of books, music, DVDs and maps at little to no cost.
