NEIU’s chapter of the University Professionals of Illinois (UPI) will be sponsoring a Student Voter Registration Drive in Village Square on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. UPI’s Vice President, Olivia Cronk, and Creating Access to STEM for All (CASA) advisor Katrina Underwood are collaborating to create the event.
“Katrina and I really believe that the future of all our constituencies here at NEIU should be collaborative and interdependent,” Cronk said in an email to prospective participants. “We are promoting student/community engagement with democracy itself.”
The event is intended as a “non-partisan, democracy-promoting event” and will include tabling by multiple organizations. Computers will be available for students to register to vote, and organizations will be tabling to promote themselves.
Some of the organizations that will be present include:
- Union Professionals of Illinois
- Creating Access to STEM for All
- The Student Media Board
- The Independent
- Title V IMPACTOS
- Pin@y Club
- University Technology Services
- NEIU President’s Office
If you cannot make it out to the event, you can still register to vote by following the QR code. Anyone with questions can reach out to Olivia Cronk at [email protected].
