Venom: Let There Be Carnage Movie Review

“Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” the sequel to the first movie called “Venom” that came out in 2018, has both Tom Hardy and Woody Harrelson reprising their roles as Eddie Brock/Venom and Cletus Kasady, respectively.

The first movie, Venom, ended with Venom and Eddie establishing ground rules that Venom can only eat/kill bad people under certain circumstances. At the end they also showed Eddie going to visit Cletus in prison and he said to Eddie that when he gets out, and he will, that there will be carnage, hence the name of the second movie.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage movie has most of the main cast from the first movie such as Mrs. Chen played by Peggy Lu. It even introduces some new characters, although some of them don’t contribute much to the storyline.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage movie maintains the same sense of humor as the first movie. The witty banter between Eddie and Venom doesn’t fail to make us laugh. This movie seems to portray Venom with more emotions and it is a very interesting take. To see a non-human have what seems to be very human emotions and feelings isn’t something seen very often and it’s very cool.

This sequel was very action-packed, but I felt it was missing some things and it was very short compared to the first movie. For example, there is a scene where Eddie and Anne, played by Michelle Willams, sit down and talk where Anne reveals a big news to him but it’s never touched on again. There are a couple different storylines like that, but for the most part they get right into the action and it doesn’t disappoint. There is a scene that takes place in a church and it’s one of the best fight scenes in the movie.

The first movie was almost 2 hours and the second movie is closer to an hour and a half. Maybe there will be a third installment in the franchise and they will touch on the storylines that they didn’t venture this time around.

The soundtrack to the movie was fantastic. Eminem teamed up with Polo G, Skylar Grey, and Mozzy for a great song called  Last Man Standing.”

Overall, the movie could be a little longer but it was a fun movie nonetheless. There is a positive to the movie though; as any Marvel fan knows, you stay after the end credits roll and you won’t be disappointed— this movie is no different. You will see a very special scene and it will leave you wondering.
