Easter Baskets For Greek Week

Gary Soriano, Arts and Life Editor

The Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) United Greek Council (UGC) sponsored a philanthropic Easter-themed event as part of the Annual NEIU Greek week, this year occurring March 25-April 1. Maggie Dudzinski, the philanthropy chair of UGC organized and oversaw the event to create special Easter baskets for sick children at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Greek organizations were given a month to design their baskets, with each organization being responsible for purchasing the contents independently. On Wednesday, March 28, the participating Greeks came together to assemble the baskets. 50 Easter baskets were then delivered to Lurie Children’s Hospital. “ …the baskets were a hit and the children loved them,” Dudzinski said. “This is something we are planning to do for future years to come.” Dudzinski said that the UGC is always looking for ways to give back to the community and that knowing they made Easter a little brighter made it a great experience for those who participated.
