Finding Purpose in Your Career
Presenters: Jesse Rutschman (Coordinator, TRIO SSS Achieve Program)
Audience: TRIO students, NEIU students

In this workshop, you will learn some fun and insightful ways you can explore and develop your talents, values, and ideal career paths. You will leave this workshop with your Meaningful Work Statement, more confidence showcasing your strengths (in job interviews, resumes, cover letters, and personal statements), and some next steps to take your career to a whole new level.

How to Choose a Graduate School
Presenter: William Escalante (Advisor, TRIO SSS Achieve Program)
Audience: TRIO students, NEIU students

Graduate school is different than college in many ways including how you select the right graduate program for you. This session will discuss some of the important factors to consider when deciding on a university for your graduate program.

Career Success Through Storytelling
Presenter: Shreya Patel (Student Center for Science Engagement)
Audience: TRIO students, NEIU students

Learn how you can use storytelling techniques to brand yourself and excel in applications and interviews!

3:05-3:55 P.M.

Using Open Education Resources to Supplement Your Education
Presenter: Jack Kuszynski (Tutor, TRIO SSS Programs)
Audience: Students

The presentation will introduce the audience to the open education movement and connect them with open education resources to freely explore new topics or enhance learning in current courses. Most OERs are totally free to access, modify, and redistribute, so they are great to supplement or replace college textbooks.

4:15-5:05 P.M.

​Tips for Getting Your Financial House in Order
Presenter: Rachel Schaffnit (Coordinator, TRIO SSS Teacher Prep Program)
Audience: TRIO students, NEIU students

This presentation includes tips on how to create a personal budget that works for you. Workshop will include hands-on practice creating a budget using Excel.

Presenter: TJ Jordan (The Nest)
Audience: TRIO students, NEIU students

Tips on how students can get in touch with what their passion and purpose in life is and how that may align with work or a career.
