NEIU Nest Resident Passing

NEIU Nest Resident Passing

In the early evening of October 25, an undergraduate NEIU student passed away at the NEIU’s student housing, the Nest. According to an email shared to Nest Residents about the passing, there is “no foul play” suspected and no “active threat” involved.

Vice President of Student Affairs Terry Mena and Angelina Pedroso Center for Diversity and Intercultural Affairs Director Dr. DeWitt Scott were on site, helping the families of those affected at the Nest. Neither could be reached for comment, along with the NEIU Police department. The Independent also reached out to Head of Communication Christopher Childers, who also did not respond at the time of publishing.

VP Mena said in an email to the Independent, “Our support efforts will continue through today and tomorrow at the NEST with these services.”

In the early morning of October 26th, NEIU’s President Katrina Bell-Jordan said in an email,
