REPORT: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix heads south

March 19, 2020

Former Bears safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix will reunite with Mike McCarthy in Dallas, according to Patrik Walker of CBSSports. The former Pro Bowler reportedly signed a one-year deal with the Cowboys worth $4 million.

While it was always expected that Clinton-Dix’ stay in Chicago would be abbreviated, the absence of a clear replacement cast doubt upon his departure. General manager Ryan Pace is now tasked with replacing his second starting safety in as many seasons following the departures of Clinton-Dix and Adrian Amos, who signed with the Green Bay Packers last offseason.

Drafted in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, Clinton-Dix played on a one-year deal last season in Chicago. The University of Alabama product collected two interceptions and 78 tackles–62 of which were credited as solo tackles–across 16 games in 2019.

Clinton-Dix rejoins McCarthy–who he played under in Green Bay from 2014 up until a midseason trade to the Washington Redskins in 2019–for the 2011 NFL Coach of the Year’s first season as the Cowboys’ head coach.
