Ultra Music Festival Miami postponed to 2021, denies refunds

March 6, 2020

Ultra Music Festival issued an official statement today, postponing the event until 2021 amid concerns of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The Miami-based festival was going to be held between March 20-22 at Miami’s Bayside Park.

Organizers canceled the festival in an effort to prevent the spread of the coronavirus by limiting the risk of exposure due to large crowds and shared spaces. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis declared a public health emergency, subsequently limiting the organizers’ to access Bayside Park.

Rather than issue refunds, organizers are granted ticket holders access to either the 2021 or 2022 edition of the festival.

Ultra Music Festival made an official announcement via twitter:

Many attendees took to twitter to express their frustrations surrounding the cancellation of this year’s Ultra Music Festival. Attendees cited their flight and hotel arrangements as reasons that they will travel to Miami regardless of the whether or not the festival takes place.

The cancellation of a major music festival such as Ultra sparks concern that other festivals will follow suit and postpone or cancel.
